Backpacking Sky Lakes Wilderness

A few weeks ago a couple of friends and myself decided to go backpacking in the Sky Lakes Wilderness in Southern Oregon. There was snow on the ground, but we were lucky enough to only have serious precipitation one night and morning, with only minor rain the rest of time that it wasn't clear. One of our hiking partners forgot his tent, and we ended up cramming three people into a two person tent for three nights. Needless to say, it was a little cozy, but did help to keep the tent pretty warm. Enjoy these photos from that trip.

The slightly visible trail in the lower left heading between the trees is the PCT.

Dirty feet, a warm fire, and white chanterelles (Cantharellus subalbidus) cooking makes me a happy camper.

Second batch of Cantharellus before cooking.

Resting on a large tree that fell across the path the night before.

On the PCT.

Some beautiful geology, just before Nick's backpack went tumbling down the hill.

Corey's wolf lichen (Letharia vulpina) beard.

Post-trail food!!

Fog and fall beauty on our way back.

Had to stop for some final mushroom hunting on our way back! Unfortunately, someone had already been to this spot just before us.
